“Daddy, I have been sexually abused by people in my past, in my village, but I can promise you that since coming on this mission no one has ever touched me in any way and I have been safe on this mission.”:

Imagine all of the young boys and girls around the world who went to bed without a father or mother last night. Imagine their stomachs as they were empty. Imagine their clothes as they were dirty, the tears in their eyes, the wonder in their minds “What is life meant for?” The child doesn’t know who to pray to, how to pray, or what to pray for. Their parents died, or were killed, and they don’t have a father to lead them and guide them- to provide for them and protect them. Above all no one is there to direct them to the God of heaven. Without a mother to sing to them, pray for them and nurture them, who will wash their clothes, who will cook their food? Who will smile at them on good days and bad days? Now imagine a place where the same children can go and have a loving earthly home. It is here that they can learn of the Savior, the one who died for them. A place where men do not use their hands to harm them but to love them. A place where they don't wonder what is around the corner and who will hurt them. A place where they feel safe. A place where they feel loved. A place to call home. A place of smiles, a place of singing and dancing, a place of birthday parties and tasty food. Here they can have clean cloths, they can have learning of all kinds, especially learning of Jesus Christ. No, this place is not paradise and we know this place is not perfect, but this place is a very special place. It has warmth for those in it and light for those around it. Many have helped in big and small ways to build it.

Daniel Gayetaye our CEO and Tony Kalaciski our VP and Prince Gayetaye our Project Director interviewed the older children. Tony shared with the older kids that he was sexually abused as a child. He asked these kids, “since being here on the mission has anyone touched you in a way that made you uncomfortable or abused you in any way?” Almost all of our older girls had this response, “daddy, I have been sexually abused by people in my past, in my village, but I can promise you that since coming on this mission no one has ever touched me in any way and I have been safe on this mission.” Daniel shared with them the story of his first daughter Naomi who was raped and killed in Rock Island, Illinois at 16 years old. He told them about the danger of rape and it has an extreme danger for being killed because men don’t want you to expose them so they may kill you to cover it up. If a man would entice you with money, don’t go for it. If they hit you and run away, don’t run after them. He said many evil men have strategies to try to get you alone and take advantage of you. They listened to his warnings and also confirmed that they felt safe on the mission. Prince had the same response from the older children as well. We are glad to know that our children are safe and well‐cared for by our Hope staff. Without Hope for the Hopeless so many of these kids would have no hope.

We are still building on our new mission site and will need more money to finish the electrical wiring. We are in need of more monthly sponsors. We spend about $2500 a month to support 17 staff, 8 teachers and 89 orphaned kids. The budget gets stretched and spent in ways that are unbelievable. We do need to increase this amount as we need more medical supplies, more food, school supplies, transportation and other daily needs. I would love to send you and information or past newsletters.
